Born 1962 in Jinan, China, lives in Mainz and Shanghai
Guangyun Liu came to Europe many years ago to live with his wife in Germany and has since developed the connection between the East and the West and the globalization as the main topic of his artistic investiga-tion. Guangyun Liu examines the vestiges of the past in the present collective consciousness across a wide range of concepts and techniques in painting, installation, and video. He investigates his dual identity by recreating the Chinese-European dialog at the center of his own biography. He also questions traditions of Chinese and Western contemporary art. His paintings, videos and installations are in the Zendai Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in Shanghai, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, in the National Museum Posen of Poland, and in the Karl Marx Haus in Trier.
